In an interview with Kikizo, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, Peter Moore gave a clear indication that backwards compatibility for Xbox games on the Xbox 360 may well be coming to an end. "Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible," he said.

Moore appears slightly out of touch with the Xbox community, he only needs to check a small number of Xbox forums to see that gamers do care about backwards compatibility. The Xbox.com forums are awash with disgruntled gamers complaining about the lack of backwards compatible games. One forum poster said, my daughters dont play the 360 at all because it wont play the old favorite games they used to play all the time!

Many people traded in their old Xbox's but kept the games in the hope that they would still be able to play them on the Xbox 360, it appears that the community want more updates rather than less and feel that Microsoft have let them down on the whole backwards compatibility issue. "At least we know never to believe MS. They have an awful lot in common with Sony", said one fuming poster.

There's even talk of a petition being sent to Microsoft for more backwards compatible games.

Glad I never had an Xbox tbh. Sounds a pretty disappointing promise not to keep :(
Why don't people just keep their old xbox's if they want to play the old games? I have to do the same with my 486 :p
couldn't give a stuff about being able to play old games!

kalniel: very very good point.
