Over my dead body

We reported a few days ago that US communications firm Lucent Technologies are suing Microsoft over a patent called, "Adaptive Coding and Decoding of Frames and Fields of Video".

Lucent are claiming that Microsoft have breached the conditions of the patent, saying, "Microsoft has infringed this patent by releasing the Xbox 360 console, which has MPEG2 technology."

Lucent are now demanding that all Xbox 360s are pulled from the market. It's a bizarre threat that they hope will lead Microsoft to back down in their upcoming court case.

That's er, nice for them.

I suspect the only thing they can do to kill them is to get them to shut down XBOX Live…

Ahhh, don't even suggest it!
It won't ever happen like that, no judge will impact the end consumers with requesting a recall. Even so i'm not certain there would be any impact to UK users, as lucient might not even hold the worldwide rights to it.

TiG
yeah, they'd have to prize it out of my cold dead fingers.
Its just stupid…
