A cross between Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and Team Fortress apparently
A report from US gaming magazine, EGM, confirms that Electronic Arts are working on a brand new franchise that will offer a different game play experience to many of the serious boxing titles on the market.Famed for their Fight Night franchise, EA are now in the process of developing Facebreaker, a cartoon boxing title for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii that will take a jovial approach towards the hard-hitting sport.
The magazine describes the new title as being a cross between Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and Team Fortress and say that it will feature humorous "real-time facial deformation". They’ll also be some colourful characters on the roster, including Romeo, the Latin love-machine and Molotov, the gigantic Russian demolitions expert who doesn’t stick to the rules.
Facebreaker will also take advantage of the Xbox 360 and PS3 cameras allowing us to create cartoon replicas of ourselves and bring them into the ring.
Working with cartoon characters allows them to work outside the confines and barriers of what we see in realistic videogames and we’re really looking forward to seeing how EA is going to push the boundary of this serious sport. There should be some very interesting special moves!
"Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup," EA's Peter Moore told the magazine.
