Nintendo are still struggling to produce enough Wii consoles to cope with consumer demand with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime admitting that they'll not be enough stock on the shelves this Christmas.

"We're working very hard to make sure that consumers are satisfied this holiday, but I can't guarantee that we're going to meet demand. As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record that we won't," he told Mercury News.

Nintendo have ramped up the production of Wii, but Fils-Aime went on to say that "the issue is not a lack of production. The issue is we went in with a curve that was aggressive, but the demand has been substantially more than that. And the ability to ramp up production and to sustain it is not a switch that you flick on."

"What I can tell you is that typically, our inventory is lasting a day... I don't think we will know when supply crosses with demand until after the holiday season," he said.

The latest figures, released 23 August 2007, show that Nintendo has sold approximately 10.57 million Wiis across the Globe since its launch.

Well i'm hoping for either a Wii or 360 from the Mrs this christmas, if there's no Wii's on the shelf then i guess Nintys loss is MS's gain.

Dissapointing that they've had a whole year to ramp up supply and they've still not managed it, yes it's not an easy process but surely it could be done in a year.
