The seventh installment of the Mario Kart games is going to be a cracker! According to the Official Nintendo Magazine, Mario Kart Wii will cater for 16 players online and will also incorporate for the first time online, the Battle Mode - the only mode in which players do not race. Instead, two players choose from levels specially designed for battle mode and try to pop the three balloons surrounding the other player with items such as Koopa shells or banana peels. The last player with balloons wins!

Mario Kart Wii will also utilise the steering wheel attachment, the Wii Wheel which is due for release to coincide with the game in the first quarter of 2008.

With just two players racing around the tracks, the Mario Kart games are hectic and action packed affairs, but Mario Kart Wii is set to bring the mayhem to a whole new level.
