Get yerself some classic gaming!

Nintendo’s Virtual Console is running wild this week with the release of the classic Streets of Rage. Originally released in 1991 on the SEGA Mega Drive this was the first in what was to become a trilogy and pretty much set the bar for street fighting and gangster themed games. Set in an unnamed city where authority has been overturned and violence runs freely on the streets, up to two players must fill the shoes of a team of ex-cops who have taken the law into their own hands.

You can get your hands bloody in Streets of Rage for 800 Wii Points... all you need next is a copy of Assault on Precinct 13 and you’ll be in nostalgia heaven.

But it doesn’t stop there’s the epic Sword of Vermilion. This definitive role-playing game, designed by the same developers as Sega’s arcade games, will take players on a revenge quest to save the world of Vermilion. But the fun doesn’t stop there as you can also grab Bio-Hazard Battle, a 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game with stylistic graphics. One or two players can work together to save their planet from deadly enemies. Both of these titles, originally released on the SEGA Mega Drive, are yours for 800 Wii Points.

And, finally, if those three weren’t enough, you’re also getting the chance to try out Chew Man Fu for Turbografx. Players must undo the curse that villain Chew Man Fu has set to rob the world of fried rice, egg rolls and other favourite snacks! This game can be played with one or two players, who must restore order to the world by completing 550 rounds of the game and save all the food from the greedy arch-enemy. Chew Man Fu is available to download for 600 Wii Points.

So with these new games I reckon that makes over 50 classic titles available for the Virtual Console... not bad, eh?
