STOP PRESS! The Wii has received some negative publicity from the UK's Arena magazine. Not the first we suppose, but certainly the first negative print article that we've heard about. The magazine's journos attended the recent Wii playtest in London and have now published their negative findings. Gaming website Spong has some of the quotes from the magazine which include, "The more I play the Wii, the more practical problems enter my head, seemingly lost on others in the rush to join the blanket of praise" and "Motion-sensing games don't work on small TVs".
The magazine article talks about the amount of space that you'll need to play Wii and emphasises that those who have a small living place might as well not buy the next-gen console. Whilst they seem to have a point, they obvioulsy haven't realised that you don't have to jump around like a lunatic to play Wii's games. If they'd bothered to read the numerous reports from Nintendo sites and indeed statements by the likes of Miyamoto himself, it's been made crystal clear that every Wii game can be played whilst sitting down.
Noone wants to be jumping around for hours on end and Nintendo would have been foolish to implement such an idea. It's totally up to the individual whether they want to prance around the room, and although it will add to the game experience, it's not necessary.
Numerous people have also complained about the shape of the Wii-mote,but Nintendo will also be selling an adapter that fits over the controller for those who prefer the feel and gameplay of a traditional controller.
