Game release dates reveal Wii info!

In a standard pre-E3 2006 press release, Midway might have let it slip about the release date for Nintendo’s Wii.
In amongst all the good stuff about various games on various platforms, there’s one telling line that might give a clue as to Nintendo’s strategy in the up-coming next-gen console battle.
For the games Blitz: The League, Happy Feet and The Ant Bully, Midway have chosen to put release dates after each game as well as the platforms they’ll be on and this is where the clues are.
For Blitz: The League an October 2006 release is stated, though it’s a bit ambiguous as to which of the platforms, including the Wii, the date applies to. However, for Happy Feet, which the Wii is one of the platforms the game will be released for, there’s a November 2006 release date.
The most telling date comes from details for The Ant Bully, other platforms have their own release date of July 2006 with the Wii standing out alone with a November 2006 date.
So what does this mean? Well, we all know that release dates are subject to change right up until the game hits the shelves, but what this, hopefully, tells us, is that Nintendo are getting developers and publishers to aim for an October or November release, meaning we can expect to see the Wii launched in either of those months too.
If this is right, and this is speculation after all, this will give Nintendo a lead over Sony and their PS3 console… and let’s face it, any lead at all over Sony’s much anticipated console is going to be a bonus. Microsoft are reaping the rewards of a year’s lead on the other next-gen consoles, so Nintendo might have just stolen some more of Sony’s market share if the Wii is out by November.
