Giving small developers a chance to pimp their wares
Nintendo has confirmed that its new WiiWare service will be available across Europe on May 20th and will cost 500 points to download.WiiWare will be a channel similar to the Virtual Console, but instead of offering retro titles for download, the games on WiiWare will be specifically designed for the console by a number of established publishers as well as Indie developers.
The first WiiWare games were officially launched on March 25, 2008 in Japan and included the likes of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King and Minna no Pokémon Bokujō (Everyone's Pokémon Ranch in English). The US release is set for May 12, 2008.
The line-up of games and pricing for Europe has yet to be announced, however current Japanese pricing suggest that games will cost between 500-1500 points to download.
