Production to be increasedNintendo is looking at increasing production of Wii console in the US significantly to cope with demand
The Japanese Giant has today reported today that its annual profit more than doubled and has now forecast a 9 percent growth for the year ahead, despite a shortage of Wii units in both the US and Europe.
Talking to Wired magazine, Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime has said that in the US new Wii units are snapped up within an hour of hitting the stores, despite the region getting 40 percent of the world-wide allocation of Wii consoles, which is said to be 1.8 million units per month.
Fils-Aime has expressed his disappointment at not being able to fulfill demand, telling the magazine that Nintendo of America are "passionately upset about the lack of product relative to demand."
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has said that the company plan to ramp up monthly production over the summer from 1.8 million units to 2.4 milliion.
