120 units per minute sold
According to an official Nintendo report, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii has become the fastest-selling game in Nintendo's illustrious history. The fighting action game launched in the US on March 9th and is said to have sold more than 1.4 million copies up to the period of March 16th, which works out at a staggering 120 units per minute.
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Game reviewers and the public alike praise its fun game play and extensive, inventive content."
The launch hasn't been without its problems with some consumers complaining that their discs don't work. Nintendo however has jumped straight on top of the problem, launching a website to stem concerns and provide advice for disgruntled customers.
Sadly, we still don't know when Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be released in the UK, but rest assured, copies are likely to be snapped up before they've even hit the shelves.
