PS3 narrows the Wii lead... a bit
Games magazine publisher Enterbrain has published figures on console sales in Japan showing Nintendo's WIi having a clear lead over both the PS3 and Xbox 360.The depressing news for Sony is that the Wii out-sold the PS3 by more than 3 to 1... but the good news is that this is less tahn previous months. For the second month running the PS3 has eaten into Nintendo's impressive lead, which could be a sign that the PS3 is starting to come into it's own.
Nintendo shifted 245,653 Wiis last month compared to 81,541 PS3s... and a paltry 11,288 Xbox 360s, proof, if it were ever needed, of the Far East's strong home-grown loyalties.
Poor sales of the PS3 have been blamed on high price and lack of decent games, so the recent price cuts must be making some in-roads.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, the Xbox 360 and Wii remain dominant with Halo 3, Microsoft's 'killer app' only just around the corner, the PS3 ain't out of the woods yet!
