Since the launch of the PS3 in North America there has been a steady trickle of ludicrous stories that keep emerging relating to the desperation of some consumers who will go to any length to get their hands on Sony's new console. The stories range from serious tales of people getting shot for their new console to the downright stupid ones...
Picture the scene... 60 people queue in the cold outside a Wal-Mart store hoping to pick up a new PS3. The manager addresses the impatient bunch by telling them that they only have 10 PS3s in stock. So the manager then decides to line up 10 chairs and tells the desperate punters that whoever is seated in the chairs will have the PS3s. Queue mayhem...
What followed would make great TV, as they wrestled each other for a position on the seats. "I got tripped up, and then I got pushed and shoved right into my chair, banged on my knee, ripped my pants," said Chris Friedrich.
"Somebody landed right on top of me and they had to actually pull that person off of me because I was halfway on the chair and I hit my head on the chair."
One person was taken to hospital in the incident. Walmart have declined to comment on the mayhem , but have said that the crowd did become unruly. In the US, suing people and companies is part of everyday life, so it comes as no surprise that some of the wrestlers are suing Walmart. Bizarre.
