Microsoft step up a gear
In an interview with Fortune magazine, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer appears to be delighted at Sony's mis-fortune over the delay of the Playstation 3
Not only will Microsoft capitalise on the Sony slip, but they now hope to secure the next-gen console market by stepping up a gear in the production of Xbox 360 consoles.
Ballmer said, "In every other generation, the first guy to 10 million consoles was the number one seller in the generation. Did we just get an even better opportunity to be the first guy to 10 million? Yeah, of course we did."
Microsoft had a target of 5 million Xbox 360 consoles in the shops by June. Ballmer commented: "We're sort-of on track. It would've been nice at Christmas to have one for everyone who wanted one."
Microsoft now have the time to produce enough consoles to satisfy demand prior to the release of the Playstation 3.
