Following on from the backbiting comments from Microsoft aimed at Sony's PS3 this week, Sony have stepped into the ring to deliver their two fingered response to Chris Satchell and Peter Moore.

At CES 2007 in Las Vegas, the Microsoft duo teamed up against Sony to deliver some criticisms of the PS3 launch and the online Playstation Network Service. "If I wanted to make my online service better, and I wanted to give [Sony] a little piece of advice, it would be to copy Xbox Live a little more closely, " Satchell commented, earlier this week.

It's only taken two days for the response from Sony to arrive. Dave Karraker, Sony Computer Entertainment's senior director of corporate communications, spoke to Gamepro.com and claimed that Microsoft's comments were nothing but catcalling, saying " "I would argue that consumers worldwide, to the tune of over 200 million PlayStations, PS2s, PSPs and PS3s, have decided whether or not Sony has the DNA to deliver hardware, software and services to suit this industry."

Karraker then went on to suggest that Microsoft have massaged their sales figures of 10.4 million Xbox 360 console sold. He said, "Microsoft views 'sold' as what has been sold to retailers but could be sitting on pallets in warehouses or stacked on store shelves. 'Sold' to Sony has always meant what the consumer has actually purchased. I think many people have incorrectly viewed our competitor's 'sold' figure to believe it was actually sold to consumers, which it was not." Ouch...nasty!

With a claim such as that we'd expect a strong response from Microsoft very soon but, when both of you have finished bitching, is there any chance of telling us about all the exciting games that are in the pipeline?

lol you might want to tell that to the people having to code for the PS3

entirely new language, devkit issues you wouldnt imagine, not to mention the fact that ALL the optimisation has to be done when the program is compiled, not when it is run (unlike pretty much all other current gen consoles)

oh and the dev ones are about the size of a smallish server and have to be BOLTED to the ground with special legs so it cant fall and break your foot…..

mind you I have no idea what the 360 ones are like

as for ps2 sales…..isnt a fair few of those down to its ability to be chipped? like how the PSone did so well in terms of units sold
