Rebellion's Sniper Elite series will advance later this year with the release of Sniper Elite 4. The developers have just released a video teaser for the game on YouTube and confirmed that it will release later in 2016 for platforms including PC (Steam), PS4, and Xbox One.
What can you expect from Sniper Elite 4? According to the official promotional blurb you will enjoy "genre-defining ballistics, breathless emergent stealth, and gripping thirdperson action across the largest and most diverse environments ever seen in a Sniper Elite game". Sniper Elite 4 is set in Italy in 1943, in the aftermath of Sniper Elite 3's campaigns. The new game promises "an expansive campaign for 1-2 players and dedicated co-op and adversarial multiplayer modes". Maps in the game are said to be many times the size of those in its predecessor.
As you can see in the video, above, covert agent and elite sniper Karl Fairburne is located in a beautifully rendered Italian war-time landscape. Sniper action will take place, ranging from the beautiful scenic Italian countryside to "sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to colossal Nazi mega structures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries inspired by Monte Cassino". The time is a little ahead of the allied landings and the fight back against the Axis powers in Italy and its neighbouring islands. Rebellion says your sniping skills are nothing less than essential to Victory in Europe.
Sniper Elite 4 will be the first game in the series to be built 'from the ground up' for next gen consoles, says Rebeillion, and will run at 1080p on both Microsoft's and Sony's boxes of fun.
