You’ve got to feel sorry for Realtime Worlds today. The studio obviously believed that its GTA style MMO All-Points Bulletin would be a success, but only a few months after the launch in June the servers are set to be closed, for good.

On the APB forums, community officer Ben Bateman wrote:

"APB has been a fantastic journey, but unfortunately that journey has come to a premature end.

Today we are sad to announce that despite everyone's best efforts to keep the service running; APB is coming to a close. It's been a pleasure working on APB and with all its players. Together we were building an absolutely amazing game, and for that, we thank you. You guys are awesome!

From all of the Realtime World staff we thank you for your continued support."

The servers will be shut down tomorrow, September 17, 2010. Realtime Worlds went into administration in August and were seeking a buyer for APB. Sadly that hasn’t happened, so it was envitable that APB suffers this fate along with many of the staff that have worked hard on the project.

It's sad to see a game with such potential fall by the way side but the flaws were evident at the beta stage, and probably long before, and nothing was done to fix them before release.
I want a refund for the RTW points I spent and never used. :(
Not sure you'll get a refund tbh.

Shame for everyone involved, both at RTW and those who purchased the game/ingame credit etc. Can't say I am surprised though - as soon as they went into administration it was hard to see how the servers could keep going without a new buyer.

Don't worry, I don't for one second think that I, or anyone else, would get a penny back. Sucks though, have quite a bit of unspent RTW points as I purchased them when I was really enjoying the game and well before it went into administration.
kinda beats earth and beyond for an mmo crashing - at least i enjoyed earth and beyond ;)

talking of sucky mmo`s - when will star trek crash?
