Ubisoft's attempt to redefine the Splinter Cell series has finally been given a firm release date for Europe.

Splinter Cell Conviction will launch in Europe on Friday 16th April, bringing with it a co-op campaign mode that acts as a prequel to the single player storyline, as well as one of four co-op battle modes on Xbox live or split-screen.

Sam Fisher plays a fugitive this time around with Third Echelon hot on his heels. Taking place two years after the events in Double Agent, Sam is on his own mission to find out who killed his daughter, but his enemies aren't far behind.

You can already pre-order the Limited Collector's Edition which is available for Xbox 360 and PC. It includes:

- An exclusive Sam Fisher statue
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction game in unique SteelBook case
- Infiltration Mode : Eliminate all hostiles in the mission area without being detected
- A special playable skin: Shadow Armor
- Early access to 3 weapons: SC300, SR2 and MP5
- The official Splinter Cell Conviction Soundtrack (more than 17 tracks)

Didn't they say the same thing back in 2007? I'm looking forward to playing this game but they are taking the mick delaying it over and over and over again - I hope it's worth it! Saying that I think I'd rather that than a game released before it's finished like a few other recent titles…
Where's the PS3 version?

This is a big joke! These days publishers seem to ask for tenders from Sony or Microsoft for a new game to be an exclusive to either.
Maybe it has something to do with the game started development way before the PS3 was released, i.e. it was meant to be released before the PS3 came out? Not sure, just a thought…
