DOA and and CS:S

The DOA female final saw SarahLou taking a bit of a beating from OPTX's Vanessa in a repetition of the Individual World Final. Alas, it wasn't to be the comeback that great stories are made from as SarahLou went down in the first 3 rounds. She managed to pick up two rounds before being closed out 2-5 to OPTX.

With the DOA male event, it was a different story as Messy took on NinjaCW though it was a tight fought match with every round easily going one way or another. NinjaCW managed to take the first round despite a dodgy middle section, then took second before Messy could get into a rhythm and take his first win. With the score 3-2 for OPTX, Messy went on the defensive and played the waiting game which paid off seeing him pick up two rounds and the lead. Then, in true Karate Kid style, when it looked like NinjaCW was going to pull out a win, Messy knocked him into the water for 5-3 overall victory.

With the individual events over, it was now down the Salvo CS:S team to bring home the winning trophy. With OPTX as Terrorists on de_inferno, Salvo put up a strong defence, and even though it sometimes came down to 1v1 or 2v2, the score was 6-3 to Salvo, leaving OPTX needing at least 8-1 to win and no way to tie.

But Salvo were on a roll by this time and pretty much ran over the map, mopping up OPTX players as they went. OPTX put up a valiant defence but in just three rounds Salvo had done the job, winning enough rounds to make a victory a certainty. The final rounds weren't even played as Salvo had done job.

So the inaugural CGS Trophy comes back to the UK and along with a nice big cheque for $500,000. The CGS season will be kicking off again soon, with Salvo obviously looking to retain their title and Odee looking to steer another winning team to victory.

I caught some of this on Sky I think… not sure about the standard of DoA4 play, they didn't really do anything. I used to play on XBL with a Dutch kid who would have wiped the floor with them.

I lost the will to live when Counter Strike came on… the worlds most boring game.

You mean one of worlds best games, though Source is far too arcadey for my liking, if only they had stuck with 1.4 gameplay but Source graphics.
Bores me. Just an opinion.
i watched all of this and last years event too was very good

disagree with you stewart and that they were not very good at doa the san francisco girl vanessa is widely renowned as the world s best female player of doa 4. although messy is good but not one of the worlds best he did well to beat ninjacw who is a very good up and coming player

you find when good players go against each other matches can often be boring because its constant countering of each others moves

and its about time someone outside of america one the world championships
I didn't see any women, I saw one Asian kid playing, he had glasses and a white shirt on, it might not have even been this event, it was on Sky One last night. Was a Ryu vs Ryu match I think.

Was all a bit cheesy anyway, so I turned it off after half a round. :D Lots of kids screaming and some annoying Yank commentators.

Still - go Salvos! :D
