What's it like to listen to?
The fact that we've yet to touch on sound quality is testament to the Oasis Flow's extensive feature list.
Unfortunately, sound quality is the one area in which the radio falls short of expectations. Whilst PURE's previous products have managed to deliver convincing, punchy sound from a single speaker, the Oasis Flow's 4in full-range driver disappoints.
The radio's ruggedised shell may be to blame, but for whatever reason, the Oasis Flow's output comes across as slightly subdued and seemingly muffled.
When used outdoors, the audio quality is perfectly acceptable - and there's enough volume to keep your next barbeque entertained - but with no means to adjust bass or treble, a lack of top-end highs and a restrained mid-range result in an overall lack of clarity.
Factor in the £170 price tag and you could rightfully argue that audio output should be better. If sound quality is more important than rugged portability, take a look at the existing PURE Evoke Flow - it sounds better and costs £50 less.
Wrap up
PURE's Oasis Flow is a feature-packed radio that's let down by two shortcomings; average sound quality and a clunky interface.
But whilst this isn't the best-sounding DAB radio we've ever heard, it is armed with a long list of redeeming features.
Designed for pick-up-and-go use, the Oasis Flow is as solid as it looks and won't mind taking a knock or being left out in the rain.
The £170 asking price is steep, but DAB and Wi-Fi reception is excellent, and both the built-in rechargeable battery and carry handle make this the ideal radio for use anywhere in and around the home.
Got a dad who works outdoors or a mum who lives in the garden? The Oasis Flow is certainly worthy of consideration for your Christmas shopping list.
