Ever since 1989, we've wanted flying cars, hoverboards, self-drying jackets, pizza hydrators and power-laces thanks to Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future Part II.
We're still a long way off most, but power-laces surely shouldn't be that difficult, right? In fact, the footwear technology was so sought after that an online petition took place last year to help encourage Nike to make Marty McFly's awesome footwear a reality.
Nike hasn't yet stepped up to the challenge, but it has met fans half-way. Well, almost. Pictured below (left) are Nike's McFly-inspired HyperDunks, scheduled for release later this year. The basketball-shoe features McFly-like colours and teases "2015" above the laces, with a set of Back to the Future arrows, too.
Sadly, they're not yet the real thing and Marty's power-laces (pictured above, right) are nowhere to be seen. We actually believe Nike will wait right until October 21st 2015 to deliver the actual power-lace trainers - the date Marty McFly actually wore them himself. It would make for a nostalgic release, but it sure is a long time to wait when you don't have a Doc-made DeLorean at hand.
If you're wondering what power-laces actually are, shame on you, watch this video to see what they're all about:
The trainers are up high on our most-wanted list, just below a Sports Almanac. The wait goes on...
