The press release
New S110 and S220 subwoofers and the 300i electrostatic panels are ready for November shipment - ETL approval for the 600i and 1000i
LONDON – 13 November 2006 – Final Sound, a full-line manufacturer of the world’s lightest and flattest high-definition speakers for home theatre enthusiasts and audiophiles, announced today at the One Aldwych in London, that the new line of subwoofers is shipping worldwide. Final Sound has completely revamped its subwoofer line and recently presented two of its new specially designed models, the S110 and S220, at the CEDIA trade show. Development has been successfully completed and the first batches are now leaving the production facilities.
Final Sound’s 300 Inverter Panel (300i), the new model electrostatic loudspeaker, is now shipping. The 300i fills the gap between the smaller 150i model and the 400i floor standing panels. With this newest addition to the Inverter™ line of electrostatic loudspeakers, Final Sound has a strong position in the market with panels from small to large adjusted to every price point and application.
In addition, Final Sound is proud to announce that the 600i and 1000i electrostatic transducers have passed its pre-market product safety-testing regime by Intertek ETL SEMKO. Except for the new 300i, which is in the review cycle for ETL-approval, the complete line of electrostatic models are ETL certified.
Final Sound subwoofers
With both new models, a switchable High Pass Filter is able to filter out part of the lower frequencies, allowing the panels to pristinely re-create the tonal areas at which the panels truly excel. Although the subwoofers are applicable in any stereo and home theatre application combined with any brand of electronics and loudspeakers, the subwoofers form a close match with the Final transducers considering phase and time behaviour. Any combination of Final panels and the dedicated subwoofers will bring a homogeneous full range performance without noticeable crossover area between the sub and the panels.
The Final S110 is an 8-inch long throw, 100 watt RMS down firing and bass reflex subwoofer. The S110 has a frequency range of 25 Hz to 220 Hz, +/- 3dB, and a variable phase adjustment between 0 to 180 degrees and an inverting switch. The S110 is ideally suited for use with the Final 90i, 150i, 300i, or 400i panels.
The Final S220 is a 12-inch long throw, 220-watt RMS, front firing sealed enclosure subwoofer. The S220 has a Class T digital amplifier with a linear power supply and a variable room gain compensation. The S220 has a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 200 Hz, +/- 3dB. The S220 is ideally suited for the Final 400i, 600i, or 1000i panels.
Final Sound 300i
The 300i is the latest electrostatic transducer from Final Sound, which incorporates its patented Inverter technologies. The Final 300i is a 48-inch panel that can be mounted on a standard floor stand or optional wall mount. Because the 300i can be mounted on a wall, this speaker is ideal for home theatres with a projection screen, customers that want larger surround channels that can be discreetly hidden, or simply, the audiophile who can appreciate the clean and clear sounds of an electrostatic loudspeaker, but is also looking for a model that blends in with the décor of their listening room. Final Sound specially developed the 300i according to modern design-values.
“The Final Sound 300i is a great addition to our line of Inverter electrostatic speakers,” said Gijsbert van den Brink, CEO of Final Sound Solutions. “Final Sound now offers a full line of electrostatic panels, including three models that can be mounted on a wall, ranging in size from 28-inches, up to six feet tall. We now have a panel to fit almost any installation.”
The Final Sound 300i measures 48-inches long, and eight inches wide, with a depth of only an inch. The 300i can create frequency responses of 95 Hz up to 22 kHz (+/- 3 dB).
The 300i is the latest addition to the Inverter family of electrostatic transducers. This exclusive technology allows the drivers to be connected to amplifiers with as little as 50watts per channel, with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.
Because the F300i are long dipole line arrays, they are perfect for a virtual surround solution as well as high quality hi-fi stereo sound reproduction.
Pricing
The products are very attractively priced, the recommended list prices in Europe are for the S110 499€, the S220 999€ a piece, and the new F300i 1800€ a pair.
About Final’s Inverter™ Technology
Contrary to a traditional electrostatic loudspeaker’s principle, the audio signal is applied to the diaphragm instead of the stators. The DC voltage is applied to the stators. The diaphragm of an inverter electrostatic speaker is divided into an area radiating high frequencies and an area radiating mid and low frequencies. Due to the panel’s division, it is now possible to avoid a narrow beaming panel with only a good stereo image in the so-called ‘hot spot’ area. The loudspeaker now provides a broad stereo image in the room.
Thanks to the inverter, the electrostatic loudspeaker’s impedance is higher, allowing for the application of simpler and less expensive audio amplifiers to be used to drive these speakers as compared to the power needed for driving “traditional” electrostatic speakers.
About Final Sound Solutions
Final Sound Solutions is a full-line manufacturer of the world’s lightest and flattest high-definition speakers for home theatre enthusiasts and audiophiles. Based in the Netherlands, the company has been an innovator in the development of advanced electrostatic speaker technology for the high-end audiophile market for more than a decade. The company completed work on breakthrough technology that created the first modular electrostatic speakers and in 2004, introduced its unique inverter technology, which completely eliminated the crossover distortion common to traditional cone speakers, creating the most natural, lifelike audio speakers in the home theater market. The patent for this inverter technology was granted in 2006.
The company received funding and now is concentrating on broadening its distribution worldwide. For more information please visit the website: http://www.finalsound.com.
ETL approval
The 600i and 1000i electrostatic panels have passed its pre-market product safety testing regimen by Intertek ETL SEMKO, a global, independent third-party testing lab, and certification agency.
As evidence of its compliance to standard for Audio/Video and Musical Instrument Apparatus for Household, Commercial and Similar General Use (ANSI/UL 60065 7th Edition 2003 Rev: 2004/04/16) and the Standard for Audio, video and similar apparatus—safety requirements (CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60065-03), 600i and 1000i models will bear Intertek’s proprietary and universally accepted ETL Listed Mark, a requirement of products being sold in U.S. or Canadian markets.
Intertek’s ETL Listed Mark is one of many product certification marks (such as the UL or CSA marks) that demonstrate compliance to national consensus standards. The ETL Listed Mark is commonly displayed on product packaging and the product itself to demonstrate compliance to buyers, specifiers, and consumers. Required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), manufacturers are required to submit their products to a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) – recognized by OSHA – for evaluation and certification to consensus standards. Intertek is an NRTL in the U.S. and an accredited Testing Organization (TO) and Certification Body (CB) by the Standards Council of Canada. Its ETL Listed Mark is recognised by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) such as fire marshals, building inspectors, and code officials throughout North America.
