UK-based PURE Digital is on something of a roll. Having yesterday revamped its line of portable DAB radios with the introduction of the Élan II, the company is today expanding its bedside line with the launch of the Chronos iDock Series II.

The successor to the original Chronos iDock is certified by Apple as "Made for iPod" and "Works with iPhone", making it compatible with a range of iPods, as well as the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

As with the original iDock, Series II allows users to charge their iPod/iPhone whilst listening, and the 16 x 2 character LCD display will list now playing information. Keeping true to the quality expected of PURE products, the Chronos iDock Series II ships with a bundled remote control, and the integrated display features a light sensor that "automatically adjusts brightness to suit the light levels in your room".

Although retaining its shape, the Series II system has been re-styled to feature a rotary dial and larger "east-to-use" buttons. What we really like, though, is the addition of the "PURE PowerPort" - a USB socket allowing for third-party accessories to be plugged in. Useful, say, for mobile phone charging.

Two 5W "custom-tuned" speakers provide audio, and as you'd expect from a bedside solution, there's a built-in alarm clock with the option to wake from either DAB, FM, iPod, iPhone or a simple tone.

The PURE Chronos iDock Series II is hitting stores immediately with a suggested retail price of £99.99.
