Edion, the world's most caring retailer?
A lot of early HD DVD adopters out there might be feeling a little sore right now. Having been stung by Toshiba's decision to bid farewell to the next-generation media format, the question now stirring in the minds of many HD DVD owners is; what will we do with our now obsolete players?
Well, if you happen to live in Japan and happen to do your gadget shopping with electronics retailer Edion, you're in for an early Christmas present!
Feeling sympathetic to the plight of many consumers, Edion is allowing customers who purchased a HD DVD drive from its stores to trade the player for a Blu-ray alternative. How sweet a deal is that?!
There are of course a few minor details in the small print, the trade needs to take place in March and the consumer will need to pay the price difference but even then, such kindness from a retailer should bring warm feelings to the heart of many Edion customers.
Unfortunately, we don't expect any retailers in the UK to follow suit, but wouldn't it be nice if someone did? Come on Argos, here's your chance to be loved by us all.
If you're a HD DVD owner, head over to the HEXUS forums and let us know what you'll be doing with your HD DVD player.
