Let us hope this format war is coming to an end

Following Warner Bros. decision to go Blu-Ray exclusive, the Financial Times reports that Paramount will soon follow suit.

Paramount had originally made headlines of its own by opting to exclusively back HD-DVD only a matter of months ago. That could all change however as according to the Financial Times, Paramount "have a clause in its contract with the HD DVD camp that would allow it to switch sides in the event of Warner Bros backing Blu-ray".

If Paramount were to make the switch to Blu-Ray, it would deal a significant blow to HD-DVD who would then have only Universal and Dreamworks as the last major studios backing the format.

Whilst we wait and see what change in direction, if any, Paramount will take, it has become clear over the past week that Blu-Ray are now clear favourites in the so called "format war". That is, until the next big studio switches sides.
