PRESS RELEASE
Bringing clean water and improved sanitation through donations from every European EyeOnTM Baby Monitor sold
London, 2nd June 2014 - D-Link has partnered with WaterAid to transform the lives of families in developing countries by making a donation for every product from the EyeOnTM Baby Monitor range sold in Europe.
Roughly one tenth of the world's population - 748 million people - do not have access to safe water, while two in five (2.5 billion) lack access to improved sanitation. As a result, a child under the age of five dies every single minute from diarrhoeal diseases. By donating a portion of the sales of its EyeOnTM Baby Monitor range, D-Link is supporting WaterAid's life-saving work and helping to give parents in some of the poorest communities the best possible start for their new-borns.
"Every new parent wants to protect and nurture their baby," said Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd. "The EyeOnTM Baby Monitor range gives parents peace of mind by letting them watch over their baby easily and securely on their mobile device. But for many parents in developing countries, just providing fundamental basics like clean water and sanitation can be the biggest struggle. We want to do what we can to help change this, which is why we've partnered with WaterAid."
Research from the World Health Organisation shows that, for every Dollar, Pound or Euro invested in water and sanitation, an average of a four-fold return in increased productivity is seen. Clean water doesn't just save lives; it's also a vital boost to the economy and development of the world's poorest countries.
Barbara Frost, Chief Executive at WaterAid, said: "We're very excited about our new year-long partnership with D-Link, which will raise valuable funds for WaterAid, as well as awareness of our work.
"In the world's poorest communities, clean safe water and improved sanitation can be the difference between life and death for a new mother and her baby. It can cost just £15 to ensure one person access to a lasting supply of safe water and improved sanitation, and so D-Link's support will make a real difference, helping to save and transform thousands of lives."
The EyeOnTM Baby Monitor range transforms any mobile device into a versatile, yet easy-to-use baby monitor. Parents can connect to the monitor wirelessly at home or through the Internet when at work, so they can check on their infant no matter where they are. It's packed with features to help care for your child, including motion, sound, and temperature monitoring, as well as night vision, automatic snapshots and recording. It even has two-way audio so parents can hear and reassure their child, and it plays gentle lullabies to help ease your baby to sleep.
For D-Link, offering peace of mind to parents has become a core focus since the launch of the EyeOnTM Baby Monitor range. Expanding this sense of security has been a natural extension to this effort and the partnership with WaterAid will go a long way to accomplishing that.
