The comfortable myTREK eliminates the need for a bulky chest strap

Oxnard, CA, 28th October 2011 - Scosche Industries, award-winning innovator of consumer technology today launches the highly anticipated Scosche myTREK, a pulse monitor and app for iPhone and iPod touch. The Scosche myTREK, an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, allows users to track their pulse, count calories and calculate distance, speed and pace.  The myTREK also allows users to store past workouts to ensure each exercise session is monitored and improved.

After pairing the Scosche myTREK with an iPhone or iPod touch, users are prompted to download the free accompanying app.  Once the app is downloaded, the myTREK is ready to go and users can begin tracking their pulse.

The myTREK uses two combined LEDs and a photo sensor to detect minute by minute changes in the user's blood pressure whilst it accurately measures the pulse.  A built-in accelerometer allows the myTREK to adjust for movement during exercise, this monitor the user's heartbeat which allows accurate measurement of pulse and calories burned.

By selecting the type of activity, training zone and workout mode, users can tailor their routine to fit around their desired end result.  Letting them know how close they are to accomplishing their goals, a male or female voice provides updates on the user's progress in real time; this also helps to monitor their desired target heart rate zone.  Work out data can be stored on the device and viewed in the app's calendar to track which days the user worked out and what was accomplished during each individual workout.

The myTREK's comfortable arm-strap design fits over the muscular portion of the user's forearm and provides convenient track and volume control.  A lithium-ion battery provides five hours of workout time before the myTREK needs to be charged, which can be done using the provided USB cable.  The myTREK ships with small, medium and large sized armbands to ensure the perfect fit.

Kas Alves, Executive Vice President of Scosche Industries comments:  "We are thrilled with the end result of the myTREK and its accompanying app.  Users now have the ability to track their activity, train when it suits them and monitor progress, all at the tip of their fingers.  It's lightweight and bulk free, we hope users benefit from this gadget during their everyday activities".
