Swann’s new 5MP CCTV system provides crystal clear video surveillance to protect homes and businesses day and night

Las Vegas – 04 January 2017 - Swann, a global leader in security monitoring solutions, today reveals at CES (LVCC, Central Hall, Booth #14810) a brand new 5MP (Megapixels) Professional Super HD CCTV security system.

The easy-to-use surveillance system includes four 5MP Super High Definition cameras and an eight-channel Digital Video Recorder (DVR). With more than twice the resolution of Full HD 1080P (or 2 MP), the 5MP cameras capture every detail and infrared night vision up to 30m (100ft) ensures crystal clear surveillance can continue around the clock.

The discrete, yet durable, aluminium PRO-T890 bullet-style or PRO-T891 dome cameras benefit from IP66 weatherproof rating and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Users can choose the 4 camera kit or combine up to eight cameras for full eight channel monitoring. The camera’s Super High Definition 5MP resolution allows users to zoom in to see number plates, faces, clothing colours and more, all whilst keeping a clear and sharp image. When the desired details have been found, they can then be transferred to an external USB storage device for passing to police or an insurance company.

Swann’s 5MP Super HD security boasts a number of key advantages over both regular 1080p Full HD Security and 4MP Super HD. More pixels, means users are able to see and record more detail. 5MP has 230% more pixels than 1080p and 33% more pixels than 4MP. The more vertical 4:3 aspect ratio of 5MP is ideally suited to the up/down nature of security as most security cameras are positioned in high positions out of arms reach and the vertical orientation allows important detail to be captured.

The new 5MP range from Swann also has new software analytics allowing zones or lines of interest onscreen around key areas such as doorways, windows or fences to be set up and the system will notify if there is intrusion or activity in those areas or someone crosses the line. The system is smart enough to recognize if a video image is altered due to camera tampering, covering or vandalizing. Now users know what’s really happening.

A pre-installed 2TB hard drive allows set-and-forget recording as it can store over 80 days of eight-channel video footage. Each channel is independently configurable to record when motion is detected, record on schedule or record continuously, and the H.265+ video compression allows for quick and recording and playback, that is 40% more efficient than common H.264 compression technology.

Live viewing and playback is available on Smartphones and tablets via the free SwannView Plus app on iOS and Android, for surveillance in the palm of the hand and from anywhere in the world. Playback is also available via HDMI or VGA connection to an LCD screen or HDTV. Users may configure the digital video recorder to send email alerts with an attached JPEG image of any recorded activity, allowing for peace of mind while away from home.

DIY-friendly, the system boasts simple installation and includes an Ethernet cable, HDMI cable, power adapter and splitter, mouse, 18m video & power cables with BNC connectors, mounting screws and plugs, theft deterrent stickers and a quick start guide.
