Henley Designs Limited, the leading UK distributor, has announced the imminent release of Pro-Ject Audio Systems' new range of affordable audiophile hi-fi products following on from the brand's first electronic box-product "The Phono Box" which today is a huge international success, with more than 200.000 pieces having been sold.
The audiophile sound quality; low price and the uniquely straightforward design of these "boxes" make them an ideal "no fuss" best buy product. Pro-Ject and its owner and designer Heinz Lichtenegger have always striven towards the goal of offering affordable well-designed products to a wide audience of music-lovers. With the launch of the "Box Design Line" they can claim to have reached that goal and from now on all future Pro-Ject products will be designed to the same philosophy.
The key design principles behind the Pro-Ject "Box Design Line" are the smallest possible size; a concentration on the basic important functions; the highest performance sound quality; focusing the manufacturing costs onto the internal circuitry rather than the external box; keeping the product easy to use; and achieving the highest technical standards at astonishingly low prices.
The new line will comprise stereo and mono amplifier versions of the Box Amp; a matching pre-amplifier the Pre Box and the Phono Box II USB, which will allow the digital recording of analogue vinyl discs.
The new amplifier products include features of interest to the Custom Installation market including a 12V DC trigger function to give remote power-on and the optional use of a sonically selected high quality low capacitive CAT 5 type cable for runs up to 100 meters or more. Special adaptors will allow this cable to carry the audio signals; 16V power supply and IR remote commands.
In addition there is a new line of "big boxes" called the "SE II" series, which are twice the height of a small box but the same width. The new series introduces the new Phono Box SE II, a phono pre-amplifier: the Head Box SE II; the Tube Box SE II, a valve based phono pre-amplifier using the premium quality ECC803S valve and finally the Speed Box SE II, a speed controller for the Pro-Ject turntables.
The performance of all the SE II boxes have been improved through the use of the latest components and manufacturing methods. All have beautiful 4mm thick, brushed aluminium front-panels finished in either black or silver and despite the great number of improvements they feature very similar pricing to the first-generation models.
