PRESS RELEASE

London, 02 April 2014 - Sharp today announces that its ground-breaking Quattron Pro TV range is available in the UK. Quattron Pro TVs (range name UQ10) offer a next generation Full HD viewing experience, with over 2.5 times the number of subpixels than FHD panels, more than a billion shades of colour, and is the only Full HD TV on the market able to display Ultra HD (4K) native content in effectively UHD resolution through HDMI, making it future-proof.

Alberico Lissoni, President, Consumer Electronics, Sharp Europe said: "Ultra-HD TV technology has raced ahead - including TVs from Sharp - but the content hasn't caught up yet. Our UQ10 TVs with Quattron Pro technology offer consumers a solution; a TV with a Full HD panel, so it's more affordable, but with a smart way of handling sub-pixels so it can effectively display Ultra-HD content. For people who aren't ready to invest in Ultra-HD, but don't want to be left behind, it's the best of both worlds."

Detail beyond Full High Definition

UQ10 TVs can display images at 2.5 times the resolution of Full HD, thanks to the Quattron Pro panel, which has 2.5 times as many sub-pixels as a normal HD screen. The Quattron Pro's configuration of sub- pixels means that the UQ10 range offers the only Full HD TVs on the market that can play native 4K content through HDMI.

Even when the content that you're watching is in lower resolutions, Quattron Pro's smart upscaler technology renders the images up to 4K, whether it's satellite/cable, TV, Blu-ray, DVDs or gaming, making content sharper and more vivid, whatever the source.

Colour EXPLOSION!

Quattron Pro is the next generation of Sharp's award winning Quattron four-colour technology (RGBY), which adds a yellow sub-pixel to the standard RGB pixel, making it possible to reproduce over a billion shades of colour, including those that are difficult or even impossible to portray using conventional LCD technology. Viewing is compelling and particularly noticeable in the reproduction of gold and yellow, green and blue, and brown tones. Colours appear even brighter and more natural, making nature documentaries a truly immersive experience.

The UQ10 series has been tested and approved for THX Display certification by THX Ltd. to meet the highest standards of quality and performance. At time of launch, the UQ10 is the first Full HD LED TV with THX display certification.

Smart sound and vision

Sharp's UQ10 series is fully connected, providing integration with mobile and smart devices. Connecting to any of your smart devices is simple and fun; thanks to the mobile app Aquos Remote Lite, your TV can be gesture-controlled with your smartphone or tablet by just the flick of your wrist.

From spring 2014, Sharp's smart TV portal Aquos Net+ will offer an evolving selection of Video-on- Demand services and free worldwide TV channels over the web.

Beautifully designed

The UQ10 range is made with craftsmanship from premium materials. With diamond cut bezel edges and slim, lightweight aluminium frames, the TVs fit beautifully into any contemporary living space, looking as good when switched off, as they do when switched on.

TVs in the range also include a wallpaper mode, which turns the TV into a picture frame, when in stand- by, by displaying a favourite family photo or painting. This option is eco-friendly as it only consumes 30- 40W of power (the same as a small light bulb).

The UQ10 range with Quattron Pro is available from March 2014 in 3 different sizes, 60", 70" and 80".
