Berlin, 30 August, 2018– Sharp, one of the world’s leading electronic companies, presents its second generation 8K TVs and monitors for the first time worldwide at IFA 2018.
The leading trade fair in consumer electronics is a landmark for the global business as Sharp launches three new 8K models – sized 60‘‘, 70‘‘, and 80‘‘ – which offer new dimensions in image realism and depth of colour. Sharp’s second generation 8K TVs will be available in from 2019 onwards in Europe, with Asian customers receiving the new products slightly beforehand.
Sharp is recognised as a leading innovator in 8K TVs following its successful introduction of the LV-70X500E to the market. The new 8K TVs achieve a resolution 16 times greater than the resolution of Full-HD TV. With more than 33 megapixels, they display tiny details that convey a stunning realism and deliver a greatly improved viewing experience to the audience.
Sharp also continues to develop the 8K range to satisfy the increasing demand for bigger screens, as in Europe the sales figures of monitors bigger than 55” have been rising for the last two years. The demand for larger TV sets has also raised customers’ expectations around resolution, as a high number of pixels allows the audience to enjoy razor-sharp pictures even at a short viewing distance.
The next step into a new era
With Sharp’s recently developed 8K image processor, 4K UHD and 2K Full-HD content can also be enjoyed in 8K quality. Sharp’s unique detection algorithm defines the number of image points and upscales them to the extra-fine pixel grid of 8K models. The image processor handles large amounts of data in real-time, as a processing double speed of 100Hz guarantees smoothly moving pictures without a ‘ghosting’ effect.
With the second generation of its 8K TVs and monitors, Sharp is reaching new heights in terms of image realism. The 80‘‘ flagship model is equipped with Sharp’s newly developed UV2A II LCD panel which provides a highly efficient light transmission. In addition to first-class image definition and depth of colour, the 80‘‘ model achieves unprecedented brightness and brilliant colours.
Availability and specifications of the European 8K TV and monitor line-up have not yet been determined. However, the 80’’ flagship model,8T-C80AX1,should be available in the European countries.
