Grand national opening
The long-heralded shake-up of UK electronics retailing that is expected to happen with the arrival of US giant Best Buy is nearly upon us, and new store locations are now being announced thick and fast.
The first location was announced late last year as being Thurrock in Essex. Since then Merry Hill in the West Midlands and Hedge End near Southampton have been added to the list, and today Aintree, near Liverpool, has been announced as the fourth.
Paul Antoniadis, CEO of Best Buy Branded Operations, said: "This announcement marks a further step forward in our plans to launch Best Buy in the UK this Spring," said Paul Antoniadis, CEO of Best Buy branded operations. "We've received over 8,000 applications for positions in our first three stores, and I've been truly excited about the high calibre of people we've seen and the enthusiasm they've shown."
According to the Best Buy announcement, the stores will stock "the latest technology, including visual and audio equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, mobiles, appliances, music, movies, games, fixed broadband, mobile and other related services."
Apart from that, Best buy is still keeping its cards pretty close to its chest. We're hoping to interview Antoniadis soon, but have been told he's not available right now.
We'd like to hear what your hopes are for Best Buy in the UK; what do you think it would have to bring to the table to differentiate itself from the incumbents. Let us know your thoughts in the HEXUS.community discussion forums.
