Pizza Express has decked out a pilot restaurant with iPod docks and sound-proof domes so diners can bring their own soundtrack to their meal.
The restaurant in Richmond with the ‘Living Lab' lets diners choose their music, lighting and pizza toppings from controls on an iPod dock so people can rave it up with an American Hot or keep it classic and simple with a Margarita.
People worried the noise of other diners and their musical tastes might ruin their appetite need not worry as the restaurant has also installed sound-proof domes to keep chosen music in and other people's tunes out.
A light feature on the iPod dock also lets users call staff, order the bill or even ask for some privacy! The restaurant chain has worked with designer Ab Rogers, a theatre director, DJ and fashion designer to come up with the idea.
Pizza Express has also introduced breakfast pizzas, dough balls with Nutella and Play Dough hour for kids as well as ‘conversation booths'.
The first ‘Living Lab' will come to Richmond but the chain said: "If you like it, other Pizza Express restaurants will follow in its footsteps."
