Dell highlights
Appropriately, given the state of the global economy, Dell's VP of Enterprise software and solutions Rick Becker was keen to bring attention to the efficiencies offered by its 11g products and services. Specific highlights include:
- 40 percent reduction in total cost of ownership
- 45 percent reduction in the time required to deploy a server
- All management software now pre-embedded
The product launches can be broken down to fiver server, five storage offerings and three workstations. They're also launching a new Dell Management Console.
The storage announcements centered on the new Equalogic PS6000 range, which appear to have been designed to improve their support of SSDs. There was also the announcement of the EX4 NAS product, developed in partnership with EMC.
Raj Kushwaha, Dell's VP of global services, announced an evolution of its services offering, which has been developed in partnership with Symantec and is broken down into:
- Pro Support - a modular offering available to smaller customers for Equalogic
- Pro Managed - lifecycle management
- Pro Consulting - A ‘technology based' consulting service
