Part of the Constellation ES series, the 2TB monster will be released in Q3 of this year, and feature either a SATA or SAS 2.0 (serial-attached SCSI v2, operating at 6Gb/s) interface. Knowing that the drive will be available in capacities of 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB, platter-size is obvious: 500GB.
Seagate will also release 2.5in Constellation drives in 160GB and 500GB capacities this quarter, again with the enterprise sector in mind, appreciating the 7,200rpm spindle speed, SAS 2.0 or SATA interface, just like the bigger-capacity, 3.5in models.
Trouble is, Seagate won't be drawn on price, and with the Western Digital 2TB GreenPower now selling for around £200, we'll have to wait a while until we can get our mitts on the only other 2TB drive around.
