Following the recent launch of AMD’s new Radeon range, Nvidia’s hand has been forced and the chip designer has offered price cuts for several of its graphics cards including the GTX 660 and GTX 650Ti Boost. This is the first round of a wider range of price cutting which is expected to continue in November, once AMD has completed setting out its stall.

Below is a full set of new-generation Radeon prices, which VideoCardz managed to snaffle from computer component maker MSI. As you can see, the list includes the yet-to-be-revealed but much anticipated R9 290 and R9 290X models. The Pounds Sterling prices are simply Euro exchange rate conversions and not necessarily what UK folk will be charged.

Nvidia’s initial reaction to these new AMD prices is thought to be a price cut to its mass-market competitive cards which includes the GTX 650Ti Boost, GTX 660 and GTX 760. TechPowerUp (TPU) reports that there may also be a little more product proliferation at around the US$250 price point as Nvidia wants to command this area of the market. A GeForce GTX 760 Ti or GeForce GTX 765 is expected to be conjured up to meet this price point. Such as card would be “essentially an overclocked GeForce GTX 670 with GPU Boost 2.0,” says TPU.

A second spree of price cuts is expected from the green team following on from AMD’s R9 290 (X) launch and subsequent availability, says DigiTimes. It will become much clearer if Nvidia has to respond to AMD, with some high-end graphics card price cuts, when the high-end AMD R9 290 (X) cards emerge alongside real-world performance reviews and official retail prices.

I need a graphics card so this is all good news to me!
I'll be blunt: if they offer 770 cheaper than R9 280X, then I'm buying NVidia, otherwise I stick to ATI
Need price cuts on the 780gtx
yep the 780 for less would be awesome

Indeed. Few people in their right mind will pay an extra £80 for a 770 for such little gain. There'll obviously be exceptions (Linux user's being one, as they get infinitely better drivers), but for most people it looks like AMD are the way to go until Nvidia cut their prices.

It's like the 9800GTX fiasco all over again :P
