Green-boards

For those attendees finding a spare second in-between all the keynotes, presentations and product-launches being hurled at them at the EMEA Intel Solution Summit 2008, Intel has put on a mini trade show all of its own.

This gives 40 of Intel’s partners the chance show off their Intel-derived wares and a major theme appears to be greenness.

The most conspicuous adopter of this theme at the show is Foxconn, which was showing off a couple of boards that are so green, they haven’t even used die on the board material.

But the really green bit is power saving. This display shows the kind of typical savings Foxconn says you get when a system using one of their boards is running, idle and off.

Here are a couple of power-meter-type things. The one on the left is measuring a greenified system and the one on the right a normal shamelessly profligate system. The key figures are apparently the ones on the top right of each meter. At a guess, they are showing the power usage in Watts of each system.

Not to be out-done, Gigabyte also had a ‘green’ board.

It also had an Atom board.
