At the Intel Solutions Summit 2008, Intel has been showing its Mini-ITX, small form factor mainboard standard in the flesh.

The boards on show are both Socket LGA775 and come in two varieties.

The DG45FC, codenamed Fly Creek, is intended for consumer systems and is expected to make an appearance at the end of Q2 this year.

The DQ45EK, codenamed Eklo, is intended for business systems and is expected in Q3 ‘08.

Intel expects them to cost in the $100-$150 range to distribution.

Here’s a DG45FC in a system playing Casino Royale.

And, completely gratuitously, here’s one on my laptop.

I wonder what chipset they use?

It's a pity that they only seem to come with an IGP rather than a PCI-E x16 graphics card slot. It looks like room could be made if a regular chipset were to be used, and then it could well make a killer consumer rig.

I doubt any other chipset is going to be any smaller. In fact Isn't this designed specifically for the mini-ITX market? in which case it is probably smaller than more main stream chipsets.
IGP's not much of a major issue IMHO, perfect Shuttle replacement as long as it'll do HD playback.
Intel's newest IGP - the GMA X4500HD - also packs in the latest iteration of ClearView, adding hardware-accelerated support for displaying HD-encoded content.

I think just about answers it :)
