Initial phase

Intel showed off an early version of its new specification standard for mobile mainboards – codenamed Rich Creek 2 – at the EMEA Intel Solutions Summit in Rome.

Apparently it’s only on the first of three phases of deployment. This is the pilot phase, in which 12 or so pilot partners are playing with it.

By Q4 2008, Intel expects the second – fast follower – phase to commence, in which any partner can apply to take part.

The final phase of general channel availability is expected some time in 2009.

Here it is.

There will initially two ODM mainboard partners, four LCD ones and one chassis one.

Rich Creek 2 can apparently be used for 14.1-inch and 15.4-inch chassis.

Intel also mentioned adding a docking station to the mix.
