HEXUS.channel can reveal that Derek Jones ended his tenure at Integra, the office and IT supplies dealer group, last Friday.
Jones (pictured) had been a director at Integra for the past ten years, having sold his company COG (Computer Office Group) Marketing Ltd to them in 1998.
Integra confirmed that Jones had left but didn’t offer
further comment. An Integra representative told HEXUS.channel that a press
release had been issued, but we can’t see it on the website. The same
representative offered to email the release to us on two separate occasions, but we
have yet to receive it.
Iain Shaw, owner of fellow buying group Brigantia, offered this comment on being informed of the news: “Amazing – Derek Jones was COG as far as I am concerned. Without Derek I would think that COG is likely to be a rudderless ship ready to be dashed on the jagged rocks of our industry shoreline. I am sure he will move quickly onto something else once he has recharged his batteries and complied with any contractual obligations.”
Jones is perhaps best known as the chairman and, along with CEO Keith Warburton, the face of the UK PC channel’s best known trade body – the PCA. It is not clear how this development will affect his work there.
HEXUS.channel still hopes to receive the promised press release and speak to Integra to find out the implications of this development. As soon as we know more, so will you.
