BEST BUY TO OPEN STORES IN DERBY AND NOTTINGHAM

Best Buy, a leading consumer electronics retailer, has today announced that it will open stores in Derby and Nottingham.

The store in Derby will be located at the Kingsway Retail Park, and is expected to open in Autumn 2010. The unit was formerly leased to B&Q.

The store in Nottingham will be located at the Castle Marina Retail Park, and is expected to open in Spring/Summer 2011.The store is an amalgamation of three existing units, including Mothercare and Carpetright.

Best Buy has opened its first two stores in the UK in Thurrock (Essex) and Hedge End (Southampton). The Merry Hill (West Midlands) Grand Opening weekend starts this Friday (25th June) at 9.00am. These will be followed by a store in Aintree near Liverpool, with Best Buy in Croydon (Surrey) opening in the Autumn.  In the stores the range includes audio and visual equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies, games, and the connections - including fixed and mobile broadband - content and services to really enable customers to get the most out of their technology.

Best Buy will create around 100 jobs in each of the Nottingham and Derby stores.  Positions will be available across the store, including store management, department heads and a variety of sales, operations, merchandising, asset protection and administration roles. Vacancies will also be available for a number of Geek Squad Agents, to provide customers with 24 hour technology support services.  Geek Squad is part of Best Buy Europe and is a Best Buy Co., Inc owned company.
