PRESS RELEASE

18 Compute Nodes in a 4U Enclosure Provide Higher Density and Scalable Performance

Fremont, California - March, 15th, 2011 - TYAN, an industry-leading server platform manufacturer, and a subsidiary of MiTAC International Corp., announces the FM65-B5511 Micro Server, which features 18 compute nodes in a 4U rack mount enclosure. The micro server segment is an emerging category that features scale-out, single-processor nodes with higher density and lower power consumption that targets web services applications.

"The FM65-B5511 is the first of cost-sensitive, higher density servers that support the next-generation Intel® Xeon® processor," said Albert Mu, Vice President of TYAN Business Unit of MiTAC International Corporation.

"In 2011, TYAN will provide a new family of high-density "Yellow River" servers that are based on the Micro Module Server Specification."

The Micro Module Server Specification provides an industry standard for the micro server segment. This standard, a collaborative effort between participating system vendors and the SSI Forum's Server Working Group, will enable innovative system architectures to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.

"Intel is investing in the emerging micro server category because these products offer higher density and lower power consumption, which is a great fit for applications like dedicated web hosting," said Boyd Davis, Vice President and General Manager of Data Center Group Marketing at Intel. "We are delighted that TYAN has developed a time-to-market micro server product based on the micro module server specification that is powered by next generation Intel® Xeon® processors."

The TYAN Micro Server provides high-reliability and scalable performance with 18 removable front-loaded compute nodes, an integrated 1 G-bit or 10 G-bit switch module, and redundant (2+1) hot-swap power supplies. Each individual node supports a single next-generation Intel® Xeon® processor, up to 32 GB of un-buffered ECC DDR3 memory, and two 2.5" SSD or HDD drives. Each node has two 1 G-bit network ports and features IPMI 2.0 support for out-of-band and remote management.

The TYAN FM65-B5511 Micro Server will be available through TYAN distributors worldwide in late Q2 2011. OEM pricing is available upon request.
