HEXUS.sharewatch: AMD and NVIDIA buck downward trend

The share price rally of the past two months has been labelled as a ‘bear rally' by many seasoned observers.

It's not uncommon for shares to go up in value, even in the middle of a recession, as investors speculate the bottom of the market has been reached and that some shares may be undervalued. Last week marked the biggest weekly fall (six day, to be precise, in this case) since this rally began, possibly signifying its end.

A few technology companies still managed to improve their share price, however, with graphics giant NVIDIA leading the way. The most newsworthy thing to come from NVIDIA in that time was its complaint that the way Intel sells its Atom CPU is unfair, so maybe investors anticipated future concessions in favour if NVIDIA's ION graphics for Atom in future.

AMD also managed a small gain, with CEO Dirk Meyer predicting the new, fabless AMD will report a profit by the end of the year and the only two other companies on our list to finish the week up were distributors Tech Data and Avnet.
