NVIDIA and the rest
The most unpredictable stock of the semiconductor trio seems to be NVIDIA, however. Every week it seems NVIDIA is either the biggest gainer or biggest faller and this is no exception, with its shares losing nine percent of their value.
This is in spite of launching new graphics cards and some high tech 3D specs at CES and continuing to get a lot of attention for its new Ion netbook integrated graphics processor (IGP). This is presumably not the effect NVIDIA was hoping all this new shininess would have.
Other than the semiconductor guys, investors can't seem to make up their minds about distributors either. In a week that saw falls in the Dow and NASDAQ, Tech Data managed to gain a couple of a percent. However, fellow disties Avnet and Ingram Micro both saw falls.
The only other gainers last week appeared to get a bit of a CES bounce as Dell, HP and Yahoo! all launched new products. The lack of news coming from Macworld Expo seems to have neither helped nor hindered Apple.
