Microsoft, etc
Elsewhere on our list we're hopefully seeing a bit more rationality returning to investors as some of the companies that have experienced the biggest falls in recent weeks have generally been recovering some value.
Our percentage comparison is with the prices we took at around 18:00 GMT on Wednesday 29th October, so it's essentially a 2.5 day change. In that time HP has regained a further eight percent, while IBM, NVIDIA and Tech Data have all improved their position to the tune of around six percent.
One other company to join the six percent club was Yahoo! A factor in this improvement will have been the news that Yahoo! increased its share of the US Internet search market last month, mainly at the expense of Microsoft. Yahoo! even managed to hold into its gains in the face of rumous that its ad deal with Google may not happen.
This fact is presumably also a factor in Microsoft being the only stock on our list to suffer a drop since Wednesday. Last week was also the week when Microsoft made a number of new operating system announcements at its developer conference, so it looks like people may not have been too impressed with Microsoft's new offerings.
