Conclusion
So it looks like NVIDIA has managed to pull off a neat trick, this time. It wanted to go head to head with AMD on its launch day and apparently concluded that it would just about be able to do it at the 11th hour.
However, moves like this come at a cost. Berraondo's concluding sentence is telling; NVIDIA has shifted the goalposts at the last minute and forced its channel into a frenzy of activity to try to accommodate this new date. He was quick to confer credit where it was due. Not mentioned, but also similarly inconvenienced, are NVIDIA's AIBs and, of course, the media.
Lastly, while we concede that some kudos is due to NVIDIA for a bold move, it must be noted that the 275 appears to be available in much fewer quantities than the 4890. There isn't a universally accepted definition of a hard launch, but NVIDIA is walking a fine line with this one.
