Benchmarks: GPU
PowerColor's Radeon HD 7950 is a solid high-end GPU and PC Specialist is using an up-to-date Boost variant that touts a core clock speed of 925MHz. In the Vanquish R4, the card delivers over 2,500 3DMarks - that's bang in line with what we'd expect from a card of this calibre.
The synthetic benchmark results suggest that 1080p gaming should be easy, and the Vanquish R4 doesn't disappoint. As expected, DX11 title Aliens vs. Predator, which performs better on AMD graphics, runs smooth at just in excess of 60 frames per second with high-quality settings.
Older titles such as Just Cause 2 are a real walk in the park. Though, the one recurring theme is that, while the Vanquish R4 is undoubtedly fast, the use of a new Intel architecture hasn't revolutionised performance: gamers shouldn't expect Haswell rigs to be fundamentally faster than outgoing Ivy Bridge.
