Benchmarks: Power Consumption
The i5-4670K Haswell chip is rated at 84W, but Intel's power-saving devilry is clearly working as intended. The Vanquish R4 is a high-end gaming rig, but when idle entire system-wide power consumption purrs along at under 50 watts.
Here's an interesting graph. Although the Vanquish R4 runs a humble 4.2GHz maximum speed, PC Specialist's bump in core voltage pushes under-load power consumption beyond the 150-watt mark. We'll find out shortly if this has an adverse effect on temperature.
Power consumption while gaming is right where we'd expect it to be for a high-end system equipped with a Radeon HD 7950 Boost.
