Benchmarks: CPU
The number-crunching PiFast benchmark is hugely dependant on maximum frequency, so you may be surprised to find that the system powered by the 4.2GHz processor tops the chart. PC Specialist's overclock may be modest, but Haswell's under-the-hood enhancements are enough to give the Vanquish R4 a sub-16-second score.
Single-threaded performance is top-notch, but the limited overclock does show in the multi-threaded Cinebench test. There's hardly any difference between the previous-generation 4.3GHz i5-3570K in the Chillblast Fusion Stealth and the 4.2GHz i5-4670K in the PC Specialist Vanquish R4.
PCMark 7 provides a good indication of overall system performance, and there's no escaping the obvious truth: when these high-performance rigs are equipped with a fast SSD, most users will struggle to notice a difference between comparative third- and fourth-generation i5 processors.
