Boil it, and then throw it out of the window

But the real fun is in seeing if the drive lives up to its SURVIVOR name. Please don't try any of the following 'tests' as they likely void the warranty.

Torture test 1 - wet, wet, wet

We placed the drive in a bowl of room-temperature and near-boiling water, to see if the seal held out. We also added the capped, ruggerdised Corsair Voyager and capless PNY 512MB stick to the test.

Both Corsair sticks passed the tests with ease. The capless PNY stick, however, exposed as it was, met a premature end. Two left in the running.

Torture test 2 - dropalicious

Starting off gently, both sticks were dropped from around shoulder height straight on to concrete. As expected, the SURVIVOR survived, albeit with a slight scuff to the casing.

But what if you're crazy enough to drop it from, say, 20 feet?

Living in an apartment block does have certain advantages, and dropping ruggerdised sticks from various windows is one of them.

Grabbing a dutiful, beautiful assistant and letting go from a second-floor window, here's what happened....
